Peter Murphy specializes in Criminal Law Court Appearances.
He has completed courses in advocacy at the Australian Advocacy Institute and Criminal Psychology at Sydney University, and is a member of the Law Society of NSW, the City of Sydney Law Society, Australian Lawyers Alliance and the Criminal Defence Lawyers Association.
Peter appears in courts daily, and has conducted many jury trials and summary hearings as advocate. He also regularly appears in the Supreme, District, Local and Children's Courts, the NSW Crime Commission, the NSW Parole Authority, Coroner's Courts, the Police Integrity Commission and the Independant Commission Against Corruption.
Peter is also a member of referral panels for the Legal Representation Office, the Aboriginal Legal Service, the Legal Aid Commission Court of Criminal Appeal and Committals Units and the Children's Legal Service.
A graduate of Macquarie University (NSW), Peter is admitted as a lawyer in the High Court of Australia as well as in New South Wales and the Northern Territory, and has worked extensively in both government and private sectors. His experience includes time in Local Court Administration and the Attorney-General's Department (NSW), Crown Law (NT) and other large legal organizations in NSW and NT. He commenced sole practise in the Sydney CBD in 1998.
Peter is also a contibuting author for the Lawyers Practice Manual NSW (Thomson Reuters), and has extensive knowledge of criminal law, practice and procedures.
