Peter Murphy is a specialist in criminal law and court appearances. Having practised criminal law exclusively since 1987, his experience, insight and knowledge is extensive.

He holds Specialist Accreditation in Criminal Law.

 Peter believes clients are entitled to receive full advice about their options to enable them to make informed decisions about their cases and how they are conducted. He is known for his honest advice and thorough work.
 

A graduate of Macquarie University, Peter is admitted to practise in the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Courts of New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

 
He has worked extensively in both government and private sectors, and his experience includes time in Local Courts Administration, the Attorney-General's Department (NSW) and Crown Law (NT). He commenced sole practice in the Sydney CBD in 1998.  

Peter appears in courts daily, and has conducted many jury trials and summary hearings as an advocate. He also regularly appears in the Supreme, District, Local and Children's Courts, the NSW Crime Commission, the NSW Parole Authority, Coroner's Courts, the Police Integrity Commission and the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

Peter has completed courses in advocacy at the Australian Advocacy Institute and Criminal Psychology at Sydney University. He is a member of the Law Society of NSW, the City of Sydney Law Society, Australian Lawyers Alliance and the Criminal Defence Lawyers Association.  

He is also a member of referral panels for the Legal Aid Commission Serious Crime and General Crime, the Prisoners' Legal Service and the Children's Legal Service, and is a contributing author for the Lawyers Practice Manual NSW (Thomson Reuters).
 

Peter is a member of the Law Society of NSW Pro-Bono panel and is also listed on the After Hours Solicitors Register.
